What we are going to do

The main objective of a navigation system is to track the current position of a person and dynamically planning the route which leads to the person’s desired location. The well-known GPS or the Global Positioning System has been developed to accomplish the above mentioned objective. However, this is mainly used to navigate while in outdoor rather than in indoor as there are considerable amount of issues occurring in indoors due to poor signal reception inside buildings. Here we focus on indoor navigation as same as outdoor navigation.

Currently, there is no solution to track a person and find his/her way inside a shopping complex according to user preferences where their preferred products are available. To do that, analyze the user preferences on different categories of products which is required by the user. If someone is looking for a best promotional deal for shopping, he/she has to walk all around the city to find out the best deals that matches best. But if there is a system that shows all the discounts and promotions in a single screen when they are navigating, it would be easier and time saving for everyone who does shopping.
However, with the advancements made in the smart phones, newer techniques facilitating GPS, has made navigating within indoors possible. GPS signals are carried through waves at a frequency that does not move easily through solid objects. That is a major issue when navigating in indoor. The objective of this research is to propose a navigation system for smart phones which facilitates navigation within indoor, specifically if the environment is unfamiliar. Further, we hope to implement a web base database application for store owners to update deals and promotions.
This application takes user’s preferences for the items and services he/she looking for through their past online searches, preferences that could be extracted from social medias and apps used. It saves all the information that user search on applications like Facebook, Google + and browser search history, and it flits the most searches items and look for it in the stores that he/she walking through. If there is any discounts or promotions, application navigate user to the discount store according to the contextual information.
